We’ve MOVED!!

The Book Faery Reviews is no longer hosted by WordPress which means we now have more freedom to redesign our look and create forms that will benefit us all more (no more commenting many many times in a row for multiple entries in giveaways for example).

The Book Faery Reviews new URL is http://tbfreviews.net.

I WAS going to move us officially over to our new location on April 1st BUT I thought it would confuse people on April Fools Day when in fact the move was true.  Plus, with the number of reviews lately posted trying to find a good day to transition without a book tour post for the day has been a bit difficult to find.  So, it’s Saturday and there’s not one book tour going on; the perfect day to transition.

HEAD ON OVER…
The Book Faery Reviews is having a blog re-launch giveaway
that is going on until April 1st!!!

Real Sex for Women

real-sex-for-women1FROM THE AUTHOR’S WEBSITE“You’ve seen her candid discussions on sex when she has appeared on the The Oprah Winfrey Show taking you behind closed doors to sex therapy and to help you live your best sex life during Oprah’s “Best Life” week.

“This bedside guide is designed to lead you to a lifetime of sexual satisfaction. Learn how to make great sex a part of your daily life…and have the kind of sex life that YOU want to enjoy. No supermodel fakery, impossible positions, or unattainable expectations. Just real, enjoyable, fulfilling, great sex — whatever your age, whatever your lifestyle — for you, for life.”

FROM THE BOOK FAERY REVIEWS…Read it alone (like me), with a girlfriend over drinks (again like me), or your lover/spouse (and once again like me) and you just might learn something fascinating to try out later on. I found this book to be an interesting read although I do have to admit that some things that were considered new and innovative weren’t quite that out of the ordinary; or maybe it’s just me ;-), so I was a little disappointed not to have many new things to try out when the time comes. Overall, I’d recommend this book to other women who are still trying to find their more sensual side or those that are looking for more excitement in the bedroom (or out…lol).

Almost a Bride

almost-a-brideFROM THE WEBSITE…“In this spectacular new romance from acclaimed New York Times bestselling author Jane Feather, fate deals one stubbornly single young woman and one deceptively heartless man a shocking hand in a high-stakes bet. But is love in the cards?

Jack Fortescu gambles to win, and this time his prize is not only his rival’s lavish mansion but everything in it–
including the man’s beautiful sister! But when it comes to games, Jack has met his match. . . .

Left homeless by her brother’s escapade, Arabella Lacey has two appalling choices: pack her bags–or agree to marry the lunatic who’s taken over her house. Why would such a handsome–and outrageously wealthy–man want such an unromantic arrangement? Arabella intends to find out, and have a little fun in the process at Jack’s expense . . . literally. As Jack discovers that his reluctant bride is no ordinary beauty, he feels a stir of admiration, among other emotions, that wasn’t part of the bargain. Now he’s the one with everything to lose. . . .”

FROM THE BOOK FAERY REVIEWS…As usual, most historical romances are fairly similar but I still can’t resist reading them. In Almost a Bride, Feather creates a story of a vengeful man (Jack Fortescu) who brings his enemy to suicide and then claims all of his property including his half-sister (Arabella Lacy). After some thought of fearing she’d lose her independence, Arabella agrees to marry Jack with the understanding that they were marrying for convenience and that neither expects the other for anything more but to keep their freedom of independence and to produce an heir. Over time you watch the passions spark in overdrive and the compassion the other has for the other while trying their hardest “not to care” about the others supposed “actions”. When Jack  finally learns to allow someone to step up to carry an act out to save his lost sister you can’t help but feel compassion for him and wonder for his wife’s selfless act of love.  The book was a page turner, often made me grin, made me want to jump up and “high five” or slap a character for their actions. The only thing I wanted to read more about that was lacking was the dispensing of Jack’s mistress.  I actually wanted some sort of “cat fight” between his wife and his old mistress and to know if Jack finally let her go financially.

Shattered Reality

shattered-realityFROM THE AMAZON SITE…“A wonderful read for all parents, teachers, counselors …. we need to open our eyes to child sexual assault and help put a stop to this silent epidemic. The sexual abuse of a child creates a devastating family crisis. Parents want to know what to do and say to help their child but they also want to know how to respond to and heal their own emotional turmoil. As a parent, you need to know it’s okay and natural to act with disbelief and denial. This is my story, a mother’s story, about the abuse of my daughter and my struggles to over come. I thought I could trust my family members. I thought I knew and could trust the legal system. I was wrong. As a parent, I couldn’t find help for ME…what to expect on this journey with my daughter and her recovery. I didn’t know how much pain I would suffer as well. This is my story and my struggle toward recovery. Some how, some way, I hope it gives you hope for your journey as well.”

FROM THE BOOK FAERY REVIEWS…How do I really explain my feelings after reading this book as a young teen victim to child molestation myself?  It’s not that I “really liked” this book and wanted to re-read it again at a later date, but that I “really liked” the fact that it is out there to bring this real issue out in front of everyone’s eyes instead of keeping it hush hush.

[F]amily’s experiences with Child Sexual Assault are unique to us, they are sadly too similar to so many other families who have had to deal with the aftermath of abuse.

In my case it was a close family friend, shoved under the rug, and forgotten by everyone who knew (everyone but me of course).  I cried when I read how she described the mannerisms of her daughter from the beginning of sharing, afterwards, and as she remembered how her daughter used to act while unknowingly to her it was happening.  I knew those feelings.  I knew those feelings and honestly got a little frustrated while I read thinking like her daughter…”I was the victim, not you! Why is it all about you?!”.  Nothing towards the author really, more perhaps of how I felt about my own past.  But then I’m glad I read it from a mother’s perspective because it helps me better understand a little of why some of the adults who knew reacted the way that they did back then.   The feelings of denial and frustrations of not wanting to believe or not knowing what to do.  Perhaps if a book like this was out 15+ years ago for parents, teachers, and friends who knew a loved one who was suffering, the help needed for the victim would have been more readily available and case’s wouldn’t be so hard to reach justice.  Victim’s family’s could receive the support they needed to help themselves and their loved ones.

Thank you Kimberly for writing your story and thank you to your daughter for sharing so that others who are impacted know they are not alone, they are not to blame, it can happen to anyone by anyone, and help is out there for them.  I’m a firm believer that one can learn from another’s story even in our darkest days.  There are reasons for everything and testimonies to go along with each.  It’s our job to share those testimonies in life.  As a mother myself, I pray that my own daughters and even my son don’t face this evil at any angle.

Your Wicked Ways

your-wicked-waysFROM THE AUTHOR’S SITEHelene, the Countess Godwin, knows there is nothing more unbearably tedious than a virtuous woman. After all, she’s been one for ten long years while her scoundrel of a husband lives with strumpets and causes scandal after scandal. So she decides it’s time for a change–she styles her hair in the newest, daring mode, puts on a shockingly transparent gown, and goes to a ball like Cinderella, hoping to find a prince charming to sweep her off her feet… and into his bed.

But instead of a prince, she finds only her volatile, infuriatingly handsome… husband, Rees, the Earl Godwin. They’d eloped to Gretna Green in a fiery passion, but passion can sometimes burn too hot to last.

But now, Rees makes her a brazen offer, and Helene decides to become his wife again… but not in name only. No, this time she decides to be very, very wicked indeed.”

FROM THE BOOK FAERY REVIEWS…Eloisa James brings us another sultry read about an estranged married couple who’ve been apart the past 10 years who end up reuniting and creating a spark when brought back together to produce an heir and a musical score. Helene, the countess of Godwin changes from the prudish woman to a more daring and beautiful woman who entices many men after her change including her rake of a husband, Reese, the Earl of Godwin. In the past he’s refused to bed her for reproduction purposes and so she decides she just might get someone else to bed her instead for she longs for a child very much.  Once he discovers this he insists that he be the one since he can’t be cuckold and allow the estate to go to anyone but an heir or his brother.  So he finally agrees but she must come back to their house to help him with his music and all while his mistress of the past 3 years lives in her old room next to his. What a scandal…Will she do it? If you want a child and you’re married I suppose the man to father the child would be your husband and not just another man.

The only thing lacking for me was that I wanted a bit more “macho” action between the two men rivaling for her attentions.  It’s always a bit more fun when 2 men fight over a woman.

There’s STILL time left!

There’s still time…Don’t forget to stop at the following posts for your chance to get a copy of the book before noon on Friday, March 27th (ooh! That’s TOMORROW!!).  Winners will be selected Friday afternoon and contacted via e-mail & post.
